TheBrianMaps' Stance on the War in Ukraine

Following February 24, 2022, TheBrianMaps did not issue high-profile public statements condemning the armed aggression or endorsing the actions of the Russian military. However, at the beginning of the invasion, he posted a text message in the community tab of his YouTube channel acknowledging the "events":

Hello friends. You all know about the events taking place right now in Ukraine. I will touch upon my attitude toward this situation in a new video... To all viewers and civilians from Ukraine, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Stay safe and take care of yourselves.

Statements at the Outset of the War

In March 2022, Maksim recorded a video calling what was happening "the most horrific events," yet evaded offering a direct assessment of the Russian government's actions, suggesting that viewers draw their own conclusions:

... Whether the actions of our president are right or wrong — that you must decide for yourselves. The main thing is not to fall for informational propaganda from either side, keep a cool head on your shoulders...

In the same appeal, the blogger expressed support for affected civilians in Ukraine and declared his intention to provide financial assistance:

I want to wish all those people who are currently enduring what they are enduring in Ukraine to stay safe, no matter how hard it might be... I found several overseas foundations... the money will most likely go where it's needed, it will go to those needy, affected civilians.

He also highlighted difficulties with money transfers resulting from international sanctions ("We are simply cut off from the entire world"), but promised to send funds as soon as technical opportunities permitted.

In May 2022, in a video titled "Beating Poppy Playtime 2 in One Stream? (Spoiler: Yes)", Brian Maps explicitly referred to the military conflict as a war. This occurred at the end of the stream when answering viewer questions about why videos were appearing less frequently on his channel. He explained that even before the outbreak of this war he had been losing creative inspiration, and following these events it became even harder to "squeeze out emotional reactions," given the extremely distressing situation.

Life in Russia and Censorship

Currently, the blogger is registered on the Roskomnadzor (RKN) portal. This indicates that he officially submitted his personal information to the state to legally continue publishing blogs, and his activities are governed by the laws and censorship rules of the Russian Federation.

In order to protect his career and personal liberty, TheBrianMaps completely avoids any political topics and carries on as if the war does not exist, focusing exclusively on entertainment content.
