IOWA is a Belarusian-Russian pop band formed in 2007 in Mogilev. Lead singer and songwriter Ekaterina Ivanchikova (Katya IOWA) was born on August 18, 1987, in Chawsy, Belarus.

Katya IOWA repeatedly supported protests in Belarus on her Instagram and in interviews. On August 16, 2020, the music video "Mriya" was released on the band's official YouTube channel in support of Belarusian protesters. Ekaterina Ivanchikova also auctioned off one of her paintings to help Belarusians affected by the regime.
The artist collaborates with Russian music labels whose tax payments flow into the Russian state budget, indirectly financing the war in Ukraine.

IOWA's stance on the war in Ukraine
The lead singer of IOWA actively supported the Belarusian people in their struggle against the dictator at the time, but regarding the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the singer has not said a single word. On February 22, 2022, in anticipation of the impending tragedy, Katya IOWA posted the following message on her Instagram:

The singer gave no further comments about war or peace. The members of the band IOWA continue to live and work in Russia.
