Yuri Stoyanov is a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, comedian, parodist, television presenter, and musician. People's Artist of the Russian Federation (2001). Co-creator, director, and performer in the sketch comedy show «Gorodok» (1993–2012). Born on July 10, 1957 in Odesa, Ukrainian SSR, USSR. Holds Russian citizenship.
In February 2018, he was entered into the database of the «Myrotvorets» website due to his participation in the filming of the movie «The Elusive» on the territory of occupied Sevastopol. In the same year, he participated in filming the feature movie «The Crimean Bridge. Made with Love!», which served as propaganda for the annexation of Crimea.
Yuri Stoyanov’s Position on the War in Ukraine
Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Yuri Stoyanov chose to adopt a stance of deliberate silence.
In April 2024, Stoyanov gave an interview to Nadezhda Strelets, in which he explained his silence regarding the so-called "special military operation":
I receive an enormous number of curses accusing me of actually being a coward, of speaking about nothing. It is especially striking that the vast majority of negativity comes from my home city where I grew up — from Odesa. This is my position; it is not connected to having found myself a comfortable, well-fed niche... Does the viewer truly not sense what kind of person you are, what you stand for, what you live for, what you represent? Is it really mandatory to show up online and declare: I am in favor of this, I am against that?
In an interview, Ukrainian actress Katya Kuznetsova shared that she had been on warm terms with Stoyanov, but after she left Russia due to the war, their relationship cooled significantly. When Katya questioned him about his stance toward the war and his Ukrainian roots, Stoyanov answered:
Yes, all of this is terrible, all of this is bad, but we have to continue living our lives.
In June 2023, Stoyanov served as the host of the National Internet Content Award ceremony in Moscow. At this ceremony, awards were granted to prominent state propaganda projects, such as the Telegram channel "Readovka", TV presenter Yulia Baranovskaya's project "Women of Donbas", while the song "Vstanem" by Shaman was awarded "Best Music Track".
Russian President Vladimir Putin personally congratulated Yuri Stoyanov on his 65th birthday. The official congratulatory message was published on the Kremlin website.
Performance Before "SMO" Combatants
Stoyanov participated in filming the state television show «Goluboy Ogonyok 2025/2026» on the state channel «Rossiya-1», where the primary guests of honor were participants of the "SMO" (invading Russian soldiers). Performing in such an atmosphere makes the artist an active participant in state propaganda that glorifies the war. Even without making outspoken proclamations from the stage, entertaining the occupying forces is a conscious decision in support of Russian military aggression.
