The position of Anzhelika Varum regarding the war in Ukraine
Anzhelika Varum spoke out against the war in general, but without stating that Putin unleashed the war. On March 2, 2022, the singer published an anti-war post on her Instagram in Russian and Ukrainian. Over a black square, the text read:
... Regardless of the outcome of current events, we are moving in seven-league strides straight to hell! More accurately, by universal human standards, we are already in hell! Who is to blame will be judged by descendants, if of course they survive... Large things are seen at a distance...
My condolences to the families of the fallen.
My demand to the leaders of both countries is to immediately sit down for the next round of negotiations! Without intermediaries!!! This is our affair! These are the lives of our citizens!

Following that post, Varum made no new publications on Instagram.
Together with her husband Leonid Agutin, she performed at the online charity concert U FOR UKRAINE to aid Ukrainian refugees. The artists sang "Magic Song" to the melody of "Shchedryk".
Since the start of the war, the artist has not been active on social media, rarely appears in public, and does not perform at major venues in Russia.
Information appeared in media outlets claiming that Anzhelika and her husband left Russia and moved to the United States; however, Leonid Agutin refuted this information:
My wife and I live and work in Russia. I beg you, do not be naive, do not give in to hysteria, do not trust information from unreliable sources, anonymous Telegram channels, and internet gossipers.
