Listening to the old tracks of this artist on official streaming platforms, social media, and other services may indirectly contribute to financing the war — through royalties paid to Russian labels and distributors, which pay taxes to the budget of the Russian Federation.

MARUV's stance on the war in Ukraine

To this day, she has not directly commented on the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. The only message the singer posted on her Instagram at the start of the war was on February 26, 2022:

It's hard to return to the news feed again. Naturally, right now it is difficult for me to cope with emotions. All my thoughts at this moment are about the health of my baby and our safety. I want to inform you that all upcoming concerts are naturally canceled. I also want to urge absolutely everyone in this challenging time to act according to their conscience and maintain common sense. 🙏🏻
Russian military servicemen, think twice! Military actions and especially human casualties will not make people better or happier. All mothers need living sons, children need fathers, and wives need their husbands.

In March 2022, MARUV together with her husband took part in a photoshoot for a Russian glossy magazine. Ukrainian fans were saddened that Anna was collaborating with those who aggressively violate peace and maintain a facade of normal life despite the war.

As is known, for some time after the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, artist MARUV remained in Kyiv, but after giving birth she departed for Turkey, and later relocated to London. Nevertheless, she continued working with Russian record labels and published her songs on Russian streaming platforms.

Currently, she lives abroad and performs predominantly at private corporate gigs and parties, particularly in the UAE and Turkey. She continues writing songs in Russian and releases tracks on the Russian service Yandex Music.

I'll say more. I know for a fact that MARUV was awaiting the 'Russian world'. And she would definitely have welcomed the occupiers in Kyiv. That's the f***ing reality, folks. And during the first months of the war she was also in Kyiv. But, as you understood, that didn't particularly affect her. Maybe she thought Russian missiles don't hit their own. Who knows.
