Anna Sedokova's stance on the war in Ukraine
On the day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the singer published only a single post with a laconic caption: "No to war! No! No! No!". Later, Anna Sedokova deleted this post from Instagram.
In early August 2022, Anna Sedokova's sole proprietorship in Russia was liquidated by tax authorities due to the expiration of her Russian residence permit. Anna has not renounced her Ukrainian citizenship and splits her life between Russia and the United States.
In October 2022, Anna Sedokova, along with other Ukrainian celebrities who chose silence over condemning Russia's war in Ukraine, was placed under sanctions by Ukraine's NSDC.
Anna Sedokova continues to remain silent about the war in Ukraine while working for Russian audiences. In Moscow, she frequently appears at music award ceremonies, festive events, and television shows.
Celebrities on Anna Sedokova's stance
For people like Yolka or Anya Sedokova, Ukraine is just a floral wreath on the head, borsch, salo, and a village church. That is the sum total of what they understand by the concept of Ukraine. To them, it's just a quaint provincial hamlet. You see, it's merely a colorful little trinket in their sense of identity. It's not Lina Kostenko, not Lesya Ukrainka, not Ivan Franko, not Kotlyarevsky, not Lysenko. Artists like that are inherently superficial and hollow. What do we expect from them? They should simply be forgotten, and history will not remember them either.
Do not stay silent. You launched your career right here in Ukraine, you have numerous friends here, and you cannot plead ignorance about what is truly happening, yet you feed your followers generic 'peace to the world' pictures. No, it doesn't work that way anymore.
