Humanitarian Mission in Lviv Oblast

In July 2024, Jesse Eisenberg along with his wife Anna Strout, who works as a teacher in New York, traveled to Ukraine. The actor arrived in the village of Nahachiv in Lviv Oblast as part of the international humanitarian initiative The Campfire Project, created in partnership with the Polish organization Fundacja Humanitarna Folkowisko.

Together with other volunteers, the actor took part in a week-long Therapeutic Arts Camp. The program is designed to help internally displaced children and refugees overcome the psychological trauma of war. As part of the initiative, more than 70 children engaged in art therapy, dance, and theater arts, and received individual consultations from specialists.

In addition to working with children, the project team conducted training workshops for Ukrainian educators and mental health professionals to equip them with methods for long-term psychological support.

Personal Reasons for Supporting Ukraine

Eisenberg explained his participation in the humanitarian mission by deeply personal reasons. In an interview, he shared that his family survived World War II specifically in Lviv:

Being here is a very personal experience for me. My family survived the war in Lviv. Very close to where we are working right now, someone saved my family's life. So in a sense, I feel an obligation to be here and do something positive for people who are currently going through war.

He also emphasized that he derives particular joy from sharing knowledge in the arts with Ukrainian children.
