John Christopher (Johnny) Depp is an American actor, film director, musician, screenwriter, and producer. In 2015, together with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, he formed the rock supergroup "Hollywood Vampires". He was born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky, USA.
He supported the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine in 2014.
On November 16, 2016, he took part in the "Voice Project" campaign, demanding the release of Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov held in Russia.
Johnny Depp's Stance on the War in Ukraine
In July 2023, Russian propaganda media claimed that the actor was planning a visit to Moscow to record a collaboration track with a local band and tour Russian cities, for which he was allegedly offered $370,000. This information turned out to be an outright fake.
At the Moscow premiere of the film "Jeanne du Barry" starring Depp, the actor reportedly addressed Russians, urging them to enjoy the film and "take care of yourselves." In reality, this was a general greeting to viewers worldwide recorded for international film premieres, which Russian state media simply twisted for their own narrative. A day later, Depp's assistant clarified on Twitter (X) that there was no specific address to Russians and Johnny has no plans to visit Russia.
Despite Russian propaganda fabrications, Johnny Depp publicly supports Ukraine. In Stuttgart, he met with Ukrainian refugee and Mariupol artist Iryna Fedorenko (Semira) and demonstrated his solidarity: during the Hollywood Vampires concert, the blue-and-yellow Ukrainian flag was displayed on large screens. At Hollywood Vampires concerts during their performance of David Bowie's song "Heroes", footage of the war in Ukraine and the blue-and-yellow Ukrainian flag are projected onto the screens.
