Anfisa Chekhova's stance on the war in Ukraine
Visit to occupied Crimea
In April 2017, Chekhova was entered into the database of the "Myrotvorets" website for illegally visiting Russian-occupied Crimea. While in 2014 Chekhova had visited Crimea by traveling through Ukrainian mainland territory without violations, in 2016 she arrived on the peninsula via a direct flight from Russia.
Anti-war statements after February 24, 2022
Immediately after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, on February 24, 2022, Anfisa Chekhova published a poem on Instagram protesting against the war:
You say, choose whether to serve ours or yours? I choose: not to di-vide this world with violence!« #Iforpeace #stopthewar. In the same post, Chekhova added: »Praying for the swiftest end to this horror« (this post was subsequently deleted).
She also recorded an anti-war video emphasizing the need to "hear each other and negotiate" in the spirit of abstract pacifism:
I have no words. I do not want to fight anyone at all, especially people I love. I sincerely and with all my soul love Ukraine... I do not choose whose side I am on; I am on the side of peace. I am on the side where two rulers negotiate and reach a common agreement.... Stop this enmity between two fraternal nations.
On Telegram, Chekhova also recounted what was happening in Kyiv and the reaction of her Ukrainian acquaintances, who, according to her, began messaging her as an enemy:

Departure from Russia and return
The presenter temporarily left Russia and moved to Bali. Four months after returning, she stated:
There is much I like in Russia, much I dislike, and I appreciate everything it has given me. But I will never, under any circumstances, claim that my country is the best! Just as I will not allow it to be demeaned in my presence. So, I am not a patriot; I was simply born and raised in Russia and love it on a profound level, regardless of politics and living conditions. But one country alone is not enough for me.
Today, the TV presenter hosts her own culinary show, inviting various Russian celebrities, and participates in Russia's version of Dancing with the Stars.
Joining the "New People" party
On March 19, 2025, at the 5th All-Russian Congress of the Political Party "New People," Anfisa Chekhova was issued a party membership card. According to Vladislav Davankov, deputy leader of the "New People" faction in the State Duma, Anfisa Chekhova will head the party's "demographic project."
The "New People" party supported Russia's recognition of the "DPR" and "LPR" and subsequently endorsed the war in Ukraine. Furthermore, "New People" have openly supported participants of the "special military operation," dispatching supplies and aid to Russian military units.
Victory Day greetings
On May 9, 2022, Chekhova published a post on Telegram celebrating Victory Day. She wrote that "there are no winners in war, everyone loses in war!", spoke out for peace, and condemned the very concept of war.
However, by Victory Day in 2025, the narrative had transformed. Chekhova reposted a publication by RT reporting on the Victory Parade and participants of the so-called "SMO," featuring the words: "Their heroic deed became an example for fighters in the SMO zone" and "Glory to the valiant Armed Forces, happy Great Victory Day."
Ultimately, transitioning from her initial "I am on the side of peace" declarations, Chekhova arrived at membership in a pro-Kremlin political party and promoting the Russian state narrative regarding the war.
