In May 2022, the blogger released a video analyzing propaganda techniques and "newspeak", explaining how the distortion of concepts leads people to believe that "black is white" and "war is peace." Ukrainian media at the time interpreted this video as veiled criticism of Kremlin narratives. Later, the original video was removed from his channel, leaving only reuploads online.

On November 26, 2025, Yan Toples finally "picked a side" by publishing a propaganda post on his Telegram channel glorifying the drone systems of the Russian Ministry of Defense:
