Singer Grechka on the war in Ukraine

Listening to this artist's tracks on official streaming platforms, social media, and other services indirectly contributes to financing the war — through taxes paid to the budget of the Russian Federation.

In 2018, she acknowledged that she had helped refugees from Donbas who had arrived in the Russian Federation:

It's very disheartening, but all of us understand what happened and what is happening. We understand that everything is completely not okay and one must help people. When the whole turmoil began, I was still a volunteer in my hometown of Kingisepp. Our entire town collected gifts for refugees and care packages for the inhabitants of Donbas.

Grechka’s Position on the War in Ukraine

Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, singer Grechka came out against the so-called SMO and departed Russia.

On July 7, 2022, she was added to the list of musical performers whose concerts in Russia are deemed undesirable (according to reporting by «Fontanka»).

In April 2024, in an interview with the magazine "Kholod", Grechka spoke about her new album and native propaganda:

I hold an overt position against the war, and I consciously advocate this. But before I sat down to compose this album, I studied the theory of propaganda. There is overt propaganda — that would be if I proclaimed: 'You are all scoundrels over there', and so forth — and then there is native propaganda. And I opted for the path of native propaganda.

The singer shared her painful emotional turmoil surrounding conflicts with her mother due to incompatible political stances:

...I communicate my anti-war stance through personal emotional experiences and anxiety about family. Because having navigated conflicts with my mother that erupted after the war broke out, I came to realize that the most crucial task is re-establishing communication with parents.. I address my mother in this song. And other mothers who have children who stand against the war. On the whole, this album is rather intended for those who oppose it, but who remain in Russia to this day. These individuals exist, they are among us, and not everyone has the luxury or possibility of leaving.. She (note: her mother) continues to watch television and places complete faith in whatever they broadcast. She lost her capacity for critical thought. The adults conceded that things being as they are is simply the way they must be. Whereas we, their children, say: no, that's not how it should be, this cannot be accepted, everything must be otherwise. We even furnish them with information, yet they refuse to see it, refuse to read it, refuse to comprehend. And conflict, as it seems to me, transpires at the exact moment a person bows to fear, freezes, and chooses a comfortable spot for themselves. A cozy seat.

Grechka additionally recounted her first reactions after the war erupted and her determination to emigrate from Russia:

The war began. The first week was the most horrifying for everyone. Continuous news updates, conflicting emotions, shifting sentiments. But once the initial shock passed, it became unmistakably clear that I had to leave. How could anyone remain? I cannot keep silent, meaning staying behind was dangerous for me.
