Alexander Gordon is a Russian television and radio host, film actor, and film director. Former head of the Workshop at the Journalism Department of the Ostankino Moscow Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting (MITRO). Known as the creator and host of major programs broadcast on NTV and Channel One. Born on February 20, 1964, in Obninsk (Kaluga Region).

Prior to the full-scale invasion in 2022, Alexander Gordon openly displayed loyalty to the Russian leadership. In 1989, he emigrated to the United States, and in 1997 returned to Russia while retaining his American citizenship. In 2015, the presenter stated that he was ready to surrender his US passport:
If a war starts, don't you worry, my dear, I'll be the first one right here and hand this booklet over to you.
In 2021, in an interview with Yury Dud, Gordon expressed direct support for Putin, calling him a great statesman, and asserted that the army is more important for a state than building roads.
Alexander Gordon's Position on the War in Ukraine
Following February 24, 2022, Alexander Gordon fully endorsed the actions of the Russian military and the Kremlin's official line. He continued working on state television, using his broadcasts to propagate pro-government narratives.
In August 2022, on the broadcast of the program Vremya Vspomnit ("Time to Remember"), the host vehemently commented on the dismantling of Soviet monuments across Ukraine, accusing Ukrainian authorities of ingratitude for their Soviet legacy:
Where does such ingratitude come from? That is what I cannot understand. They were gifted a country. It was patched together literally out of whatever was at hand. They were given everything. What are the reasons for this ingratitude?
2025 Interview: Family, US Passport, and Support for the Regime
By 2025, the TV host's stance remained steadfast. Moreover, in interviews, he admitted that due to political disagreements, he has virtually stopped communicating with his eldest daughter Anna, who lives in the US. Gordon also explained why, contrary to long-standing promises, he had never surrendered his American citizenship.
On the rift with his daughter: «With her, I communicate rarely. This is also linked to her stance on the 'SMO'. She is a liberal American, whereas I am a hardened, what should I call myself, loyalist. How can we find common ground?
On keeping his US passport: «The thing is, it is almost impossible to renounce American citizenship. They have a so-called exit tax... They assess every single asset you own: bank accounts, real estate, cars, everything. And they demand 30% of that. On top of that, you remain a tax resident of the United States for the next 5 years.
In December 2025, during an interview with propagandist Anton Krasovsky, Gordon once again confirmed his complete agreement with the actions of the Russian authorities:
On Putin's role and «confidence»: Gordon is grateful to the president for «restoring confidence in tomorrow» and enabling Russians to «articulate what we want,» emphasizing that Russia now seeks to live «not like everyone else» (referring to Western standards)
On traditional values as an «island»: He describes Russia as an «island» of traditional values, to which Europeans allegedly flee to save their children from Western gender policies
On attitudes toward protests and force: Gordon claims that any political protest is «a sign of weakness, not strength.» In his opinion, if a person is in the right, they don't need to go out and assert rights by «stomping their feet.» When asked about the prospect of an armed rebellion, he replied that if people take up arms, they would be «outsiders,» not «ours,» because «our people wouldn't come out
On the perceived superiority of current life: Gordon asserts that Russians are currently living «better than they have ever lived before,» and that is precisely why they don't want any revolutions
Today, Alexander Gordon remains one of the core faces of Russian state broadcasting, openly supporting the military aggression against Ukraine while simultaneously retaining citizenship in an "unfriendly country."
