Dmitry Khrustalev's stance on the war in Ukraine
Since 2023, he has hosted the "Scarlet Sails" graduation festivities in Saint Petersburg in place of Ivan Urgant. The invitees include schoolchildren from the Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia, including Mariupol.
In December 2024, he starred in a propaganda show on Channel One. In an episode of the program "Shag k mechte" (Step to a Dream), the comedian spends time with children from Makiivka at a tank firing range, teaching them how to fire from a tank "at Russia's enemies." In a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, he compares himself to Putin and asserts that Russia "never attacked anyone, but was only stopping morons who want to enslave the world."

Furthermore, Mitya Khrustalev stated that he understands Putin perfectly:
I am from Leningrad myself, and I understand very well that I am the same kind of Petersburg guy as he is. And I know that we have that rule: «a guy gave his word — a guy kept it.» That is, we keep our word.
On February 3, 2025, he was entered into the database of the "Myrotvorets" website for war propaganda, Russian fascism and Nazism, psychological corruption and militarization of minors, and related activities. Khrustalev commented on this development as follows:
I consider my work as an entertainment show host to be my service to the Fatherland. You must live for yourself, for your own good, but without harming others
