Video: Sukhorukov about Russia and Putin

Sukhorukov's statements supporting the annexation of Crimea, the independence of the 'LPR' and 'DPR', and Putin:

  • "The signal that I hadn't flown anywhere abroad was right there at the Simferopol airport, as I passed by those border booths, quiet and deserted... Even before, whenever I came to Crimea, I never had the feeling that I was in another country, although I understood and respected that it was the territory of another sovereign country. And the fact that Crimea is now Russian — that didn't just happen by accident, no — it is the will of history, the will of time! I cannot say it any other way. I am happy."

  • "I don't know Obama. But Putin is better. He is my president. Appealing, strong, an excellent statesman."

  • "Of course I support it! I support both the recognition (Ed. of the LPR and DPR) and the friendship of peoples with both hands, but above all — I support the decision of my president."

Sukhorukov's stance on the war in Ukraine

Supported Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

And now, when people say: «I am against war», I ask them: «Will you allow me to express my thoughts on that matter? Do you grant me that right?» Then I will say: I am against defeat in this military operation. If the army, a vast number of people trained by military academies along with the civilian leadership, decided this had to be done, it means a vital, blood-deep necessity arose. It means this is a matter of life and death, not merely 'ambition' as one colleague of mine claimed. Quite some ambition — to rise up, bristle, and go! And how much before this did we try to persuade them, plead with them, and even give them money — after all, we are neighbors, don't do this, we are kin! And in response they told us — we will never be brothers!
