Tommy Cash (real name Tomas Tammemets) is an Estonian rap artist. He propagates the "Russian trash" style, which combines post-Soviet nostalgia: carpets, Adidas tracksuits, and orthodox icons. Born on November 18, 1991, in Tallinn, Estonia. Tomas's mother is half-Ukrainian, and his grandmother is a Russian citizen. The artist considers himself "half Estonian, half Russian."

Ties with the Russian Audience and the Crimea Controversy
The artist enjoys considerable popularity with Russian audiences thanks to collaborative projects with the band Little Big and his participation in the series American Russians.
A number of media sources claimed that in 2021 Tomas visited temporarily occupied Crimea, but no credible evidence supporting this claim was found. As reported by the Estonian publication Kroonika on March 5, 2025, representatives of Tommy Cash pointed out that any reports about his alleged visit to Crimea in 2021 are fake news and an attempt to discredit him ahead of the contest:
Obviously, Tommy did nothing of the sort. With everything currently happening across the world, Russia no longer holds any interest for Tommy
Anti-War Statement Following the Invasion
Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Tommy Cash canceled his concerts in Kyiv, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg. On February 25, 2022, he published an anti-war statement on his Facebook page, expressing support for the Ukrainian people and for those Russians who opposed the invasion:
Coming to terms with the current military actions is very difficult, all of this is profoundly heartbreaking! I am a staunch opponent of any military aggression! And I fully support the Ukrainian people and the people from Russia who do not support the invasion, this is not their choice... This is an extremely sorrowful situation, and I truly hope that soon I will be able to return to these wonderful countries to perform new music there

Participation in Eurovision 2025
On February 15, 2025, it was announced that Tommy Cash would represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The artist secured 83% of the public vote.
The staging of Tommy Cash's Eurovision performance was handled by Russian screenwriter and director Alina Pasok, who has collaborated with him multiple times and directed several of his music videos.
Before the first Eurovision Semi-Final, in a comment for "Novyny.Live", he professed his love for the Ukrainian city of Odesa:
Greetings to Ukraine! I saw that «Macchiato» is being listened to very actively by Ukrainians. That's madness! I really want to go to Ukraine. We were on tour there and I love Odesa so much, especially in the summer — it's like a Ukrainian Barcelona. I can't wait to return there
Russian Themes in His Creative Work After the Start of the War
Despite his public support for Ukraine during the opening days of the full-scale invasion, Russian themes did not disappear from Tommy Cash's creative output after 2022.
In 2025, alongside Dutch artist Joost Klein, he recorded the track "United By Music", which contained lines touching upon the Russo-Ukrainian war: "We want peace, they want war", as well as "I want to fly to Kyiv and go to Moscow".
Later, another collaborative track by the musicians surfaced online under the title "Russian Passport". Officially, the song had not been released at the time the fragments appeared, but snippets spread rapidly across TikTok and YouTube, with the full lyrics appearing on Genius.
In the song, Tommy Cash and Joost Klein make extensive use of Russian motifs, referencing the KGB, Russian citizenship, and Red Square. Key lines include: "Please, KGB, don't poison me", "With a Russian passport, I want, I need", and "I wanna go-go-go to the Red-Red Square". Furthermore, they attributed borscht to the aggressor country, despite UNESCO officially designating Ukrainian borscht cooking as an endangered element of intangible cultural heritage in July 2022.
Even after the onset of full-scale war, Tommy Cash continues to actively utilize Russian aesthetics, the Russian language, and Russian cultural symbols in his art. For an artist who built a significant portion of his persona around "Russian trash", this theme clearly remains an integral component of his public stage identity.
