Oleg Brain's stance on the war in Ukraine

Reaction to the full-scale invasion

Following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Oleg Brain suspended the release of new videos on his YouTube channel. Later, he told subscribers: "I've been in Kyiv the entire time, and over the past month the channel and videos in general were the last thing on my mind."

After returning to YouTube on April 22, 2022, in a gameplay video for Hello Neighbor 2 Beta, he addressed Ukrainians:

...I haven't recorded videos for almost 2 months since Russia attacked Ukraine. My country, where I was born and where I live. As you can understand, all this time the channel was the last thing on my mind. Now, practically at the end of April, an opportunity came up to record something new, but nobody canceled the daily missile strikes by Russian forces. So don't be surprised if there isn't the cheerful mood many are used to in the videos, or if the videos themselves come out very rarely...

Charity fundraisers

Throughout the full-scale war, Oleg Brain has regularly supported charitable fundraisers, publishing information about them on his Telegram and YouTube channels and urging his audience to contribute. Among them are fundraisers for the Ukrainian military, affected civilians, and volunteer initiatives. Below are just a few examples:

  • fundraiser for "aid and evacuation of animals affected by the Orc blowing up of the Kakhovka HPP"
  • fundraiser for a serviceman requested by his moderator Foxy, with all reports later provided on the Telegram channel;
  • fundraiser to help a subscriber with urgent basic necessities whose home was damaged by shelling;
  • a subscriber's fundraiser to repair a vehicle for the 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade and purchase 3 thermal imagers;
  • fundraiser for Okhmatdyt;
  • fundraiser for the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade (drone, thermal imager, rangefinder, EcoFlow, and a pickup truck), etc.

Additionally, Oleg Brain included links to charitable fundraisers in descriptions of his YouTube videos. For instance, under the video "RESIDENT EVIL FOR ADULTS" he published links to fundraisers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and aid for Ukrainian refugees.

Following the outbreak of the full-scale war, Oleg Brain openly supported Ukraine, continued to live and work in Kyiv, and regularly used his platforms to assist charitable fundraisers.
