Danya Milokhin's stance on the war in Ukraine
Absence of a clear public stance
Since February 24, 2022, the TikTok star has not publicly spoken out about the war in Ukraine.
Two days after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Milokhin urged his fans "not to look for culprits" and "not to demand acceptable reactions":
Right now there are no winners and no losers. We are all victims. Everyone! And everyone handles the shock in their own way — some take action, some freeze, some cry, some talk nonsense, some comfort and hug <…> Start with yourself! Look at whether you have stepped onto the warpath or the path of peace right now.
However, in this appeal, Milokhin did not condemn the Russian invasion and did not name Russia as the party that unleashed the war.
Departure from Russia and mobilization
In October 2022, Milokhin relocated from the Russian Federation to the United States, fearing being drafted under mobilization.
Singing the Ukrainian anthem on stream
On November 19, 2022, while in the US, Danya Milokhin sang the national anthem of Ukraine during a livestream with Ukrainian blogger Artur Babich. Following this, the TikToker was heavily criticized in the "patriotic" segment of Russian social networks: he was branded a "traitor", and commentators demanded he "never be let back into Russia". Russian officials also threatened to revoke his citizenship.
Milokhin responded to the criticism: "I have a question: people clipped how I sang the anthem of Ukraine. Why didn't people clip how I sang the anthem of Russia before that?"
Second departure following Mizulina's appeal
In mid-September 2023, Danya risked returning to Moscow, but immediately flew out to Dubai. The trigger for his flight was a statement by public figure Ekaterina Mizulina asserting that Milokhin must be drafted into the army during the upcoming conscription cycle:
I appeal to the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The other day, blogger Danya Milokhin returned to Russia, having previously upset many Russians with Russophobic statements while outside our homeland. Considering the imminent start of the autumn conscription campaign, I request that he be drafted into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces. This step will foster patriotic education. The young man will be able to genuinely prove his loyalty and devotion to our homeland with weapons in hand.
2024 interview: attitude toward Russia and the war
In a 2024 interview, Danya Milokhin described singing the Ukrainian national anthem as "a shot in the foot". He admitted understanding that the act would trigger a negative reaction. At the same time, Milokhin stated that he does not consider himself a traitor to Russia, identifies as Russian, and is not ashamed of it abroad.
He also stated that he is ready to publicly apologize and meet with Ekaterina Mizulina if that would help him return to Russia.
Furthermore, Milokhin reacted positively to the idea of recording a track with vocal war supporter SHAMAN, proposing to produce a drill version of his song "I Am Russian".
Ukrainian hopak dance
In May 2026, Milokhin once again attracted media attention: he danced the Ukrainian hopak on TikTok to the folk song "Ty zh mene pidmanula".
Support for the Yabloko party
In August 2026, Danya Milokhin published a video clip on social media dancing in front of a giant apple sculpture and urging followers to support the "Yabloko" party with the phrase "'Yabloko', forward!" The Yabloko party was the only political party participating in the 2026 State Duma elections campaigning under the slogan "For Peace and Freedom!", advocating for a ceasefire and peace agreement.
