Maxim Fadeev on the war

Maxim Fadeev is a Russian composer, music producer, singer-songwriter, arranger, director, and actor. Born on 6 May 1968 in Kurgan, Russia. In 2022, Vladimir Putin awarded Fadeev the honorary title of "Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation".

Support for Putin

Max Fadeev has refrained from making grand public declarations about the war; however, his political stance is clearly demonstrated through his public loyalty to Vladimir Putin.

In 2018 and 2024, he served as one of Putin's official trusted representatives during the presidential election campaigns. Following the launch of the full-scale invasion, he consistently backed official Russian state policy.

In 2022, the producer condemned fellow artists who fled Russia after the start of the war against Ukraine.

Sanctions

In 2018, he was added to the "Myrotvorets" database for deliberate violation of the state border of Ukraine in order to enter Russian-occupied Crimea.

In 2020, he was included on the list of persons posing a threat to the national security of Ukraine. The producer compared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Joseph Goebbels over an appeal to Donbas residents who identify as Russian to consider relocating to Russia.

Fadeev was subjected to sanctions by the European Union. Commenting on this situation, he stated:

When this whole complicated story began, I said that Bali is probably off the table, and we're staying right here. Unfortunately, I lost all my titles in the West, though basically, I am a professor of music. They stripped me of that title, stripped me of the title of composer

According to Fadeev, the measures went far beyond professional penalties, as his bank accounts abroad were frozen and his assets confiscated:

There is an extensive catalog published in America called 'World Composers'. I was in it, but they simply crossed me out. They seized all my money, froze all my accounts — now I have nothing left of what I strove for so long
