Polina Gagarina's stance on the war in Ukraine
Supports Putin's regime, engages in state propaganda, and supports Russia's war against Ukraine.
Polina does not make direct verbal statements regarding the war in Ukraine, but actively participates in concerts supporting the so-called "special military operation" and performs in occupied Crimea. In particular, she performed at Putin's propaganda concert "Za Rossiyu!" ("For Russia!") on March 18, 2022, which endorsed the occupation of Crimea and the killing of Ukrainians.
On February 14, 2023, Gagarina was scheduled to perform a concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan. However, the propagandist's show was canceled due to public outcry from Kazakh citizens who support Ukraine.
In January 2024, she performed for wounded participants of the so-called "SVO" at the Mandryka Central Military Clinical Hospital in Moscow:
For me, this is a vital necessity. It is the calling of my heart. If I was able to bring a moment of joy and happiness to the boys and to everyone helping them recover, that is the greatest reward for me. Huge thanks to you, dear boys, for your courage, your bravery, your dedication, and your fearlessness. To say we are grateful is an understatement. An enormous, universal thank you to all of you.
What celebrities say about Polina Gagarina's stance on the war in Ukraine
These are the black holes of Russian show business... People like Polina. I don't understand—maybe they took her children hostage, maybe during that stadium performance (referring to the Luzhniki concert) they threatened to cut off her children's arms and legs. Such a talented person laid her talent on the altar of evil. Frankly, I sent her a private message: «Rest in peace.» Plus a few more «kind» words. For me, she is dead.
I cannot comprehend how Polina surrendered and sold her voice. I don't understand it, it's a complete shock to me, because, frankly, I had tremendous respect for this artist and her talent. But as I have stated before, every voice «in favor,» especially one so loud, equates in my mind to every single bullet currently killing the people of Mariupol, to every bomb that has reached Kyiv. For me, this is a tragedy. I hope that for Polina, this will also turn out to be the tragedy of her entire life.
I'll be honest. There was one person who truly astonished me. Standing on stage at Luzhniki alongside Rastorguyev, Baskov, Gazmanov, and Mashkov was Polina Gagarina. It's completely incomprehensible, honestly, why on earth she needed any of this.
