"Murakami" is a Russian rock band formed in November 2004 in Kazan. Lead vocalist — Dilyara Vagapova.

Murakami Band on the war in Ukraine

Listening to this artist's tracks on official streaming platforms, social media, and other services indirectly contributes to financing the war — through taxes paid to the budget of the Russian Federation.

Commenting on the 2014 events in Ukraine (the war in the Donbas), Vagapova expressed her thoughts as follows:

... right now, looking at what is unfolding among our neighbors, you simply cannot bring yourself to believe that this is reality... I do not know who is right and who is wrong, I only know one thing: WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS! I understand perfectly well that I will not alter anything with these words or with my songs, but it is easiest of all to just sit in one's kitchen and watch some action thriller on television where everything happens in real time and in an actual real-world country... The band «Murakami» is outside of politics, yet we simply could not restrain ourselves and remain indifferent to these events, because indifference is a paralysis of the soul and premature death, as Anton Pavlovich Chekhov once said. We are all deeply distressed, weeping, mourning, and waiting... Peace will triumph not only in Ukraine, but across the entire Earth...

Murakami Band's Stance on the War in Ukraine

Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, members of the band "Murakami" published a black square on Instagram, which was subsequently taken down. Murakami made no direct statements regarding the war, adopting a stance of deliberate silence.

In August 2023, the musicians planned to perform at the "Nashestvie" rock festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. However, the concert was canceled. Nearly all participants at "Nashestvie" openly support the war against Ukraine.

Concerts in Crimea

In November 2023, "Murakami" held concerts in Russian-occupied Kerch, Simferopol, and Sevastopol, directly violating Ukrainian legislation and norms of international law, which constitutes an indirect legitimation of Russia's illegal occupation of the Crimean peninsula.

The band continues to live and work in Russia, actively touring across cities of the Russian Federation.
