"Purgen" is a Soviet and later Russian musical group playing hardcore punk / crossover thrash. Founded in 1989 in Moscow, the band's frontman and permanent leader is Ruslan "Purgen" Gvozdev.

Listening to this artist's tracks on official streaming platforms, social media, and other services indirectly contributes to financing the war — through taxes paid to the budget of the Russian Federation.
Purgen Band's Stance on the War in Ukraine
In July 2017, Ruslan Gvozdev was added to the database of the "Myrotvorets" website for war propaganda, Russian fascism and Nazism, illegal touring activities in Russian-occupied Crimea, and other hostile actions.
Gvozdev has frequently spoken out in support of the current authorities in various interviews and insulted other punk bands for expressing protest sentiments.
Support for the War and Russian Aggression
Members of the group "Purgen" publicly support Russian aggression against Ukraine and regularly perform at events associated with supporting the war effort.
In the summer of 2022, "Purgen" performed alongside the nationalist band "Ot Yunosti Moeya", which directly supports Russian soldiers fighting on the front lines.
On June 24, 2023, the musicians shared the stage with the well-known nationalist band "Russkiy Styag", rallying together around the so-called "special military operation". In the concert announcement, "Purgen" urged Russians to unite to fight against "globalists" and to "conquer" the future for their descendants:
From words to deeds! In difficult times, Russian people have always known how to unite and overcome all hardships through collective toil. And today, when our defiant, freedom-loving people are waging a struggle against misanthropic globalists, we decided to brush off subcultural squabbles and work together for the good of our Motherland. We are Russian people, and we have nothing to divide. We must conquer and build the future for our descendants« — from the concert announcement by the punk band »Purgen
On May 9, 2024, the musicians performed in occupied Donetsk at a celebratory rock concert marking Victory Day for fighters of the "Espanola" volunteer reconnaissance-assault brigade.
What Ruslan "Purgen" Gvozdev Says About the War
From an interview on the "Lesha Zhyolty" video blog:
I was waiting for the SMO, it was an inevitability... since '91 everything was clear, that this was the end of it.
Right now there is one Western subculture — liberals, they are our ideological enemies. [...] If a band has a patriotic direction, aimed at preserving our country and culture, then we are all for playing alongside them.
Gvozdev denies a distinct national identity for Russians, Belarusians, and Ukrainians, referring to them as "one single people," and portrays Russians as the "most ancient white people" of Slavic origin.
From an interview on the channel "Razgovory o Kazhdom":
I have a huge number of musician friends, specifically in this hardcore-punk style, who went to the front. Four close friends of mine are fighting, right on the front line — either in reconnaissance or serving as commanders... So here we support them, they are our heroes, they are our own people, ours...
If our country signs negotiations, then that must mean the full return of the territory of Ukraine and the Baltic states to us... restoring all of this historical justice completely. And only then sign a peace treaty...
