Tatyana Kurtukova (married name Makeyeva) is a Russian singer, actress, and educator, performer of Russian folk and original songs. She gained wide fame following the release of the patriotic hit single "Matushka." She was born on September 9, 1993, in Khabarovsk, Russia.

Listening to this artist's tracks on official streaming platforms, social media, and other services indirectly contributes to financing the war — through taxes paid to the budget of the Russian Federation.
Tatyana Kurtukova's Stance on the War in Ukraine
Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Tatyana Kurtukova made no overt public statements regarding the war. However, her participation in promoting the pro-Kremlin agenda and her support for the Russian authorities testify clearly to her position.
Kurtukova's artistic work is utilized within state propaganda aimed at strengthening patriotic sentiment across society. Her songs are played in kindergartens, schools, and at mass public events, and the song "Matushka" is even played instead of the school bell in some Russian schools.
Political Subtext of the Song "Matushka"
In an interview, Tatyana Kurtukova acknowledged that the song "Matushka," which brought her widespread fame, carries socio-political undertones. According to the singer, the composition is "to some degree even provocative," and the lyric "For me — Holy Rus, for others — a tiny thorn" reflects how Russia can be perceived differently:
In it we acknowledge that our beloved country may be a 'tiny thorn' to someone else. After all, that is simply stating a fact.
Tatyana Kurtukova's performance fees increased from 2.2 to 5 million rubles. Notably, as the temperature of patriotism rises, so does its price tag.
Participation in a Project Supporting the "SMO"
Kurtukova also participated in the "Music of Victory" project, funds from streams of which are transferred to participants of the so-called special military operation. This effectively constitutes direct financial support for Russian soldiers fighting in the war against Ukraine.
Support for Putin's Policies
Tatyana Kurtukova has also repeatedly voiced public support for Putin. Following the president's speech at a meeting of the Council for the Implementation of State Demographic and Family Policy, she stated that she considers his course to be the right one, writing:
I watched our President's speech today... he called support for families a fundamental cornerstone of Russian society. And could there possibly be a truer course?
Furthermore, on the 25th anniversary of Putin's first inauguration, the singer provided a comment to a state publication in which she thanked the president for supporting Russian culture and stated:
For me, as an artist, it is incredibly important and joyful to know that the president publicly emphasizes the inestimable value of our culture and traditions. When I see how the state expresses support for cultural institutions at the very highest level, my heart rests easy about our present and our future.
The lack of public statements regarding the war does not alter the fact that Kurtukova participates in projects financing "SMO" combatants and openly backs Vladimir Putin. These actions speak far louder about her stance than any words could.
