Uma2rman (originally named "Umaturman") is a Russian pop-rock band from Nizhny Novgorod, founded by brothers Sergey and Vladimir Kristovsky, who named the band after their favorite actress, Uma Thurman. The band was formed in 2003.

The founders and members of the group are listed in the database of the "Myrotvorets" center for deliberate violation of the state border of Ukraine, denial of Russian aggression, and participation in propaganda events in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Uma2rman members' stance on the war in Ukraine

From the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the band members chose to adopt a stance of silence. On March 1, 2022, a neutral post was published on the band's Instagram about spring and hope that "all of this will end quickly":

However, on April 16, 2022, the musicians demonstrated their position more clearly by performing at a concert in the "Za Rossiyu" ("For Russia") marathon in support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In November 2024, Vladimir Kristovsky visited the unified military contract selection center in Moscow, TASS reported. The artist explained that he came to express support for contract soldiers heading to the SMO and to wish them "good luck in battle." According to him, the state "takes care" of special military operation participants — specifically, "forgiving their debts."

Wow, look at how many scumbags there are. Pilot and Uma2rman in a concert in support of the war! I will never be able to understand why people are willing to zero out their reputations and careers in such a manner

Well, I wasn't particularly charmed to begin with, frankly speaking. If it were BG [Boris Grebenshchikov], then I would have experienced disappointment. But since it's Seryozha Galanin and Aleksandr Ivanov, I was never under any illusions. The only surprise for me was Uma2rman, but that happens too.

Mariupol. Driving through a destroyed city. And posters for the April «Za Russia» concerts in the city squares. Among the participating artists, there were no surprises for me. Except perhaps Uma2rman and Ilya Chort, leader of the group Pilot (though no, recalling our conversations with him, I realized it was headed that way). But I still will never be able to understand how anyone can participate in something like that, seeing footage and photos of what is happening right now in Ukraine. Because today it is impossible not to know. One can choose not to want to know. Avoid looking. Block your eyes and ears. I wouldn't be surprised if trickles of blood started dripping from the performers' mouths during their concerts. Alas, we must admit that we have bred a special breed of musicians: «Rockers singing praises of war.
